Systems Tester

Summary

The Systems Tester supports CHE’s IT department by testing, validating, and troubleshooting web based systems and mobile applications. This role focuses on identifying bugs, verifying workflows, and ensuring systems function as intended before release or updates. The Systems Tester works closely with developers and internal stakeholders to improve reliability, usability, and overall system quality.

Compensation Range

$22.00 to $26.00 per hour based on experience and technical skill level

Hiring Timeline

A candidate will be selected by January 16, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test web applications and mobile apps across multiple devices and browsers
  • Identify, document, and clearly report bugs, errors, and workflow issues
  • Verify fixes and updates after changes are deployed
  • Perform regression testing to ensure new features do not break existing functionality
  • Follow test plans and also perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases
  • Collaborate with developers and IT staff to reproduce issues and validate solutions
  • Assist with basic debugging by isolating steps that cause failures
  • Maintain clear testing notes and documentation for future reference
  • Provide feedback on usability and user experience issues
  • Support testing during peak development or deployment periods

Location

  • Primarily in office position with limited remote flexibility
  • 20 to 25 hours per week
  • Availability during standard office hours Monday through Friday 9:00a to 5:00p
  • Occasional extended hours during major releases or testing windows

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience testing web based systems, software, or applications
  • Experience testing both web applications and mobile apps
  • Familiarity with bug tracking or ticketing systems
  • Basic understanding of APIs, databases, or backend systems
  • Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments
  • Familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace, Airtable, or similar platforms
  • Prior experience in education, nonprofit, or internal business systems

Required Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to notice small inconsistencies
  • Clear written communication skills for documenting bugs and test results
  • Ability to follow structured test cases and also think critically without scripts
  • Comfort working with technology and learning new systems quickly
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with a technical team
